Thursday Night Football, Week 10. Tonight the Carolina Panthers travel north to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

This is an interesting matchup of teams that are clones in some ways and polar opposites in others. The 5-2-1 Steelers come into the game hot, having won four straight. They currently sit atop the standings in the AFC North. The 6-2 Panthers also come in hot, winners of five of their last six games and sitting in second place in the NFC South.

These two teams are very evenly matched. The Steelers are ranked 12th in the NFL in yards allowed per game; the Panthers are ranked 11th. The Steelers are ranked 21st in passing yards allowed per game; the Panthers 19th. The Steelers are ranked 6th in rushing yards allowed per game; the Panthers, 8th. The Steelers are ranked 15th in points allowed per game; the Panthers are ranked 12th. It’s like looking in a mirror for these two defenses.

On the other hand, the offenses couldn’t be more different. The Steelers make their living through the air, with the 4th most passing yards but only the 22nd most rushing yards in the NFL. The Panthers run and run and run some more. They have the the 2nd most rushing yards but only the 22nd most passing yards in the NFL.

Two teams, mirror images on defense, complete opposites on offense. This should be a fascinating clash of two of the NFL’s better teams.

It’s the Panthers and the Steelers in an intriguing matchup in tonight’s Thursday Night Football action.

Enjoy the game everybody.
