In a chilly MetLife Stadium the New York Jets lost their fifth straight and their eighth game of the 2018 NFL season with a hard fought but ultimately futile 27-13 loss at home against the division rival New England Patriots.

The Jets held the game close through halftime, going into the break tied 10-10.

The second half it was all Patriots. After trading field goals early in the second half the Patriots scored two unanswered touchdowns. The Patriots ran the ball right down the Jets’ throats, and the Jets had no answer. On the other side of the ball the Jets could not get anything going in the running game, forcing them to rely on the arm of Josh McCown to move the ball. Although the offense under McCown was more effective than it has been in weeks, ultimately it was all for naught, as drive after drive in the second half fell short of scoring. The Patriots were clearly the superior team, and the final score reflected that.

With the loss the Jets record falls to 3-8, as they head to the road for the next two weeks of another dismal season, playing out the string and waiting for free agency to begin.

John will be around for a more in depth recap of today’s game a bit later this evening. In the meantime leave your comments and vent your frustration on the game and the season below.
