Happy Thanksgiving everyone! The traditional Thanksgiving Day football overdose kicks off week 12 of the 2018 NFL season with an NFC North showdown between the first place Chicago Bears and the last place Detroit Lions.

The 7-3 Chicago Bears come into the game red hot, having won four straight games, including a 34-22 win over this same Detroit Lions team just eleven days ago. The Bears field a rugged defense, but it is the offense that has been a revelation. The traditionally offensively challenged Bears have been transformed into an offensive juggernaut. This Bears team ranks sixth in the NFL in points scored and has not scored less than 24 points in a game since the third week of the season. With a win against the Lions today the Bears would sweep their divisional rivals for the first time since 2012.

The 4-6 Detroit Lions come into the game fresh off a big win against the Carolina Panthers, their third quality win of the season. The Lions have also knocked off the New England Patriots and the Green Bay Packers, an unlikely litany of quality wins in an otherwise dreary Lions season. Playing spoiler and adding the Bears to their list of quality wins would no doubt make for a festive Thanksgiving holiday for the Lions.

It’s the Lions and the Bears in a traditional Thanksgiving Day kickoff. Enjoy the game everyone.
