Throughout this season and last, I’ve taken weekly stabs at ranking the top ten most positively impactful New York Jets on the season - in order.
At the bye week last season, I decided to take the temperature of the fanbase, and tally up a community vote on the best and worst Jets through that point of the season.
This year, let’s do the same! At the bottom of this post, you can submit your votes on the 2018 performance of key Jets so far.
My approach to these rankings is to stack the players up according to their total net impact on the Jets this season - taking playing time and positional value into account.
In terms of playing time, a hypothetical example would be something like if I think Marcus Maye has played slightly better on average than Leonard Williams, but Williams has played twice as many snaps, then Williams is easily the guy I’d rank higher.
Positional value is also something I consider. Jason Myers has probably performed his job more effectively than just about everybody else on the Jets this year, but as much as I love the guy, in my opinion I just don’t see a great kicker having more positive impact on a team than even a decent/solid defensive tackle for example. That’s my take on it, but it’s your ballot, so if you think Jason Myers has helped the Jets this season more than Henry Anderson or Darron Lee, then that’s perfectly fine!
The ballot includes only players who have played at least 100 offensive or defensive snaps, and core special teams players.
