Sunday Night Football, Week 11. Tonight the Minnesota Vikings travel to the Windy City to take on the surprising Chicago Bears in Chicago, Illinois with first place in the NFC North on the line.
When the season began you probably expected the Vikings to be battling for first place in the NFC North. However, you may not have envisioned them staring up at the Chicago Bears,a surprise first place team this late in the NFL season.
The 6-3 Bears are riding a well designed offense, one of the NFL’s best defenses and surging sophomore slinger Mitchell Trubisky to a run to the top of the NFC North standings. Few would have expected this Bears team to be an offensive juggernaut in 2018, but the Bears have been just that, averaging more than 34 points a game over the last six games. Combine that with the NFL’s fourth ranked defense and this Bears team is a tough opponent for any NFL team.
The 5-3-1 Minnesota Vikings have rebounded from a sluggish 1-2-1 start with wins in four of their last five games. After seeing their once feared defense shredded in the early going, the Vikings have now given up 21 points or less in four of their last five contests.
This game marks a turning point in the NFC North. If the Bears prevail perhaps we are witnessing a changing of the guard in a division long dominated by the Packers and the Vikings. If on the other hand the Vikings can stave off the Bears tonight perhaps it will begin a surge to the serious Super Bowl contender status most expected the Vikings to enjoy this year.
It’s the Vikings and the Bears with NFC North supremacy on the line in one of the better Sunday Night Football games of the year.
Enjoy the game everybody.
