Monday Night Football, Week 10. Tonight the New York Giants take the long trip west to San Francisco to take on the 49ers in San Francisco, California.
If this were 1990 this game would have major playoff implications and a lot of juice. Alas, this is 2018 and these two teams are, well, terrible.
The 1-7 Giants are tied with the dismal Oakland Raiders in the spellbinding race for the 2019 first overall draft pick. The 2-7 49ers are just a half game out in that scintillating competition. This is definitely not one for the ages.
The NFL surely did not envision this mess when the 2018 Monday Night schedule was put together. But Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a season ending injury and the Giants showed last year’s 3-13 record was no fluke and here we are.
It’s the Giants and the 49ers in a NFC contest only die hard fans of the teams involved will view as must see TV. Monday Night Football the way it’s never supposed to be.
Enjoy the game everybody.
