In a big turn around from the abysmal Jets performances of the last few weeks, the New York Jets dominated the Denver Broncos at home in every phase of the game on their way to a 34-16 win.
Jets rookie quarterback Sam Darnold bounced back from a few poor performances with an efficient performance that included a couple of long scoring strikes to Robby Anderson. Terrelle Pryor contributed a spectacular scoring grab. The Jets running game was superb, with Isaiah Crowell breaking out with a huge 219 yard performance, including a magnificent 77 yard scoring run. Bilal Powell chipped in with another 99 yards. Andre Roberts contributed with a big 50 yard punt return to set up a score, and the Jets defense settled down after giving up some big early runs and an early passing score to take care of business and limit the Broncos to just 9 points after the 1st quarter. To cap it off, Leonard Williams finally came alive with two sacks, dominating his matchups all day.
This was a complete team performance by the Jets, getting the job done against a Denver team coming off a short week and traveling across the country. Those are the types of games you are supposed to win at home, and for one week the Jets did not disappoint.
With the win the Jets record goes to 2-3, and for at least one week all is right in Jets land.
John will be around for the happy recap of today’s game a bit later this evening. In the meantime leave your comments on the game below.
