What was the most important play of yesterday’s game between the Jets and the Bears?
I am going to go to Chicago’s final scoring drive, which gave the Bears a 24-10 lead after a Jordan Howard touchdown. The Jets had just scored a touchdown to cut their deficit to 7 points. A defensive stop would give them the chance to tie the game. Instead Chicago stormed down the field in eight plays for an insurance touchdown.
I can’t go with Howard’s touchdown itself. The Bears were already in chip shot field goal range. A field goal there would have put the Jets behind 10 with just minutes to go.
So I will go with the 10 yard pass on second and 6 from the New York 40, which gave the Bears a first down and put them into field goal range. A stop on that play and the one that followed would have been the last chance the Jets had to force a punt on that series. Thye failed to get that stop.
It might not have been a memorable play, but it has my vote for the game’s most important play.
What do you think?
