Last week reports indicated the Jets were interviewing former Lions quarterbacks coach Brian Callahan for a job on their offensive coaching staff. It wasn’t entirely clear whether he was interviewing for the vacant offensive coordinator job or the quarterbacks coach job that will be vacant if the team officially promotes Jeremy Bates.
The question is now moot as the Raiders have hired Callahan to their coaching staff.
We have named Brian Callahan our quarterbacks coach.

Callahan is a fairly hot commodity after the job he did with the Lions. With that in mind, it would have been nice to see the Jets land him. With that said, I have some skepticism about these coaches who get hyped based on one stop early in their careers. Sometimes these guys do not pan out in a new stop.
There are also a number of quality coaches the Jets can still bring in for either job. The search continues for the team.
