Jets rookie wide receivers ArDarius Stewart and Chad Hansen had quiet rookie years. That wasn’t a great surprise. Third and fourth rounders tend to not be impact players on day one. If they were, they would go in the top two rounds.
How productive were they relative to their rookie peers and to their Draft status?
Stewart (9th wide receiver selected)
Catches: 6 (tied for 19th among rookie wide receivers)
Yards: 82 (19th)
TDs: 0
Hansen (21st wide receiver selected)
Catches: 9 (16th among rookie wide receivers)
Yards: 94 (17th)
TDs: 0
.........................................................
Stewart performed under value relative to where he was selected, while Hansen was a tad above value.
Of course, both guys will need to make big leaps over the next two years to be considered quality picks. A developmental year is to be expected from rookies, but being outside the top 15 at a position in a single Draft class usually does not equate to being a quality player.
