Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports the Browns and former Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley are in talks to have Haley join Cleveland’s coaching staff.
Todd Haley has a chance to remain in the AFC North, as the Cleveland Browns have engaged him in serious talks to become their new offensive coordinator under Hue Jackson, according to league sources.
The Jets fired offensive coordinator John Morton last week just hours after news broke that Haley was leaving the Steelers. Haley and Jets head coach Todd Bowles worked together on two different NFL coaching staffs so speculation naturally began that Haley would be a candidate to replace Morton.
So far the search for a new offensive coordinator has been slow to develop. There have been no reported interviews and not much in the way of confirmed candidates for the job.
The Jets will be hiring their third offensive coordinator in three years and their sixth in eight years.
