Here we are, last NFL game before the Super Bowl. The Minnesota Vikings visit the Philadelphia Eagles in the City of Brotherly Love for the right to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
The Vikings feature quarterback Case Keenum on a magic carpet ride. The journeyman quarterback was supposed to be the 3rd string guy in Minnesota, but Teddy Bridgewater's continuing injury rehabilitation and Sam Bradford's never ending injury issues have thrust the unlikeliest of heroes into the spotlight. Keenum has responded with inspired QB play. Combine that with some very good receivers and the best defense in the NFL and the Vikings have a time honored recipe for post-season success.
The Eagles were on a magic carpet ride of their own this season, starting the year winning 10 of their first 11 games behind the MVP level play of second year quarterback Carson Wentz. But Carson Wentz down with a season ending injury and backup Nick Foles now has to carry the load at QB for the Eagles. Without Wentz the Eagles have struggled to put points on the board, an ominous sign going into a matchup with the NFL's best defense. The Eagles have a pretty good defense of their own, however, ranked #4 in the NFL, and that combined with the home field may be just enough to carry Philadelphia to a Super Bowl.
It's the Eagles and the Vikings squaring off with a Super Bowl berth as the prize.
Enjoy the game everybody.
