Manish Mehta reports Jets assistant defensive backs coach Daylon McCutcheon will not return to the team in 2018.
Jets assistant defensive backs coach Daylon McCutcheon will not return in 2018, the Daily News has learned. McCutcheon, who played seven seasons with the Browns, primarily worked with the cornerbacks for the past two years. He left the team to be closer to his family in California.
The cornerback group McCutcheon worked with performed poorly in his two seasons with the team, but that probably does not have much to do with the job performance of the assistant position coach.
Even after a 5-11 season, the Jets haven’t had any turnover on their coaching staff to this point. This relatively minor change is the first shakeup. There have been some rumblings bigger changes could conceivably be on the way, namely at offensive coordinator, but we are left to wait and see whether anything comes of those rumors.
