Falcons vs Eagles Game Thread

The best weekend of NFL football kicks off with an odd matchup of the #6 seed Atlanta Falcons favored on the road against the #1 seed Philadelphia Eagles in an NFC divisional round playoff game.

The Falcons come into the game seemingly putting it all together after a rough regular season that saw the defending NFC Champions barely squeak into the playoffs as a #6 seed. Quarterback Matt Ryan came back down to earth after last year's MVP season and the Falcons finished third in their division. However, the Falcons finished with a rush, winners of four of their last five games, including three wins over playoff teams. This team looks to be playing their best football at just the right time.

The Philadelphia Eagles are not happy about being underdogs despite being the #1 seed in their home stadium. The Eagles dominated most of the year, racing off to an 11-2 start behind star quarterback Carson Wentz. The Eagles scored 20 or more points in 12 out of 13 games. However Wentz was lost for the season due to injury in the 13th game of the season and backup quarterback Nick Foles now leads the Eagles offense. Foles and the Eagles offense did just enough to limp home and preserve the Eagles' #1 seed, beating the New York Giants and Oakland Raiders before being shut out by the Dallas Cowboys in a season ending loss. The Eagles formerly formidable offense struggled under Foles, scoring just 19 points over the final two games. Now the Eagles have to right the ship and find a way to put some points on the board against a surging Falcons team.

It's the Falcons and the Eagles in the NFC divisional round.

Enjoy the game everybody.
