Week 1 Fantasy Football Start/Sit Advice

The NFL season kicked off Thursday night, but the main course for Week 1 comes Sunday afternoon. If you have interest in taking fantasy advice from me, here are a few players I am watching filling out my fantasy lineup.

Start - Sam Bradford

As you may know, I am no big fan of Sam Bradford. There aren’t many players whose career earnings are so out of line with what he has actually accomplished. For one week, however, I would be willing to bet on Bradford if my quarterback situation was shaky. That New Orleans pass defense is inviting.

Start - Todd Gurley

Will this be a big bounceback season for Gurley? That remains to be seen, but I like this matchup against the Colts. Indianapolis allowed 4.7 yards per carry a year ago. Andrew Luck’s injury will also keep this a low scoring ball control type of game. The Rams aren’t likely to be chasing this game and forced to throw the way they might be with a healthy Luck playing.

Sit - Dak Prescott

This is a big year for Prescott. The league has been able to spend a full offseason looking at film for holes in his game. I am not totally certain how this will turn out, but the Giants already gave headaches to Prescott last year.

Sit - Adrian Peterson

Given Peterson’s pedigree and the revenge game aspect facing the Vikings, Peterson might be an enticing option on paper. When a back changes teams, though, I always like to wait a week to see exactly how the team utilizes him. That is especially true with a coach like Sean Payton who likes to shuffle usage of his backs.
