I am going to be honest, the scouting game of the week was last night with USC and Washington State. I just couldn’t get something written up in time. Let’s call this one “the second best scouting game of the week.” It might be second in our scouting hearts, but by no means lacks the future NFL firepower we want to see. You can find Clemson VS Virginia Tech on ABC at 8:00 PM EST.

Clemson

WR, Deon Caine - - 6’1”, 210 lbs, Junior

Strengths:

  • A big play threat downfield
  • Converts a lot of first downs

Weaknesses:

  • Needs to clean up drops
  • Needs to have more confidence over the middle

OT, Mitch Hyatt - - 6’5”, 300 lbs, Junior

Strengths:

  • Gets good push upfront to open up holes
  • Quick and efficient when blocking on the run

Weaknesses:

  • Needs to do better with outside pressure
  • Committed a lot of penalties in 2016

DI, Christian Wilkins - - 6’4”, 210 lbs, Junior

Strengths:

  • Has great awareness
  • Has amazing athleticism

Weaknesses:

  • Misses some makable tackles
  • Needs to pressure more on the inside

Edge, Clelin Ferrell - - 6’5”. 265, RS Sophomore

Strengths:

  • Has a very good bull rush
  • Knows how to eat up the pads of tackles

Weaknesses:

  • Might only be a pass rushing specialist at the next level
  • Gets pushed around in run defense

Edge, Austin Bryant - - 6’4”, 265 lbs, Junior

Strengths:

  • Makes a home for himself in the opposing backfield
  • Does a good job setting the edge

Weaknesses:

  • Has an injury history
  • This would be his only year of true production

Virginia Tech

OG, Wyatt Teller - - 6’5”, 308, RS Senior

Strengths:

  • A real bulldozer in run blocking
  • He doesn’t get pushed around

Weaknesses:

  • Gets penalized a lot
  • Must sustain productivity

DI, Tim Settle - - 6’3” 328 lbs, RS Sophomore

Strengths:

  • Great run stop %
  • Quick for a man his size

Weaknesses:

  • Missed a lot of tackles
  • Needs to turn pressures into sacks

LB, Tremaine Edmunds - - 6’5”, 236 lbs, Junior

Strengths:

  • Has great length, size and speed
  • Closes on defenders quickly

Weaknesses:

  • Misses tackles a good bit
  • Needs to take the next step in production

CB, Adonis Alexander - - 6’3”, 193 lbs, Junior

Strengths:

  • Has great ball recognition
  • A very efficient tackler

Weaknesses:

  • Needs to do better in man coverage
  • Can he hold up against top end speed

CB, Brandon Facyson - - 6’2” 197 lbs, Senior

Strengths:

  • Forces a lot of incompletions
  • Great against the run

Weaknesses:

  • Inconsistent in press man
  • Gives a up a lot of big plays

S, Terrelle Edmunds - - 6’2”, 210 lbs, RS Junior

Strengths:

  • Has a low completion % when thrown at
  • Doesn’t give up many big plays in the air

Weaknesses:

  • Misses a good deal of tackles
  • Not the best against the run
