Jets Cut Four Players From 53 Man Squad

The New York Jets claimed four players off of waivers earlier today. They had to make four corresponding moves to make room on the 53 man roster. Some speculated Lorenzo Mauldin and/or Jason Vander Laan might go on the injured reserve list rather than make cuts. That was not to be.

The Jets have announced that linebacker Bruce Carter, linebacker Freddie Bishop, tight end Jason Vander Laan and running back Marcus Murphy have been cut from the 53 man roster. Carter is 29 years old, Bishop 27, Murphy 26 and Vander Laan 25. All are as old or older than the four players claimed on waivers, continuing the process of molding a younger team.
