Jets safety Terrence Brooks has been named AFC Defensive Player of the Week after recording a pair of interceptions on Sunday in the team’s Week 3 win over the Miami Dolphins.

Brooks played an outstanding game. If you are a stickler for technicalities, you might wonder whether he really had two interceptions on defense. One of his picks came on a fake punt so maybe that was a special teams play. Either way, it is a nice honor for Brooks.

The safety was acquired in a preseason trade with the Philadelphia Eagles for Dexter McDougle. Of course we cannot draw large conclusions over the result of one game, but McDougle never produced much for this team and was not a part of the future. Getting anything useful for him would have to be considered a win.

We will see what the future holds, but so far that trade is looking good.
