The Jets made a minor transaction today signing running back Travaris Cadet. To clear a roster spot, wide receiver Charone Peake was placed on injured reserve.

Cadet has spent time with the 49ers, Patriots, and Saints organizations. His time in New Orleans overlaps with that of current Jets offensive coordinator John Morton. So far in his career, he mainly has been used as a receiver on offense. Cadet has 102 career receptions and 26 rushing attempts, not exactly the normal workload for the position. He also has experience as a kick returner, averaging 24.3 yards on 63 career returns.
Peake is dealing with an ankle injury. He will miss at least eight weeks, although the IR rules make a return at least a theoretical possibility. The 2016 seventh round pick out of Clemson has not made much of an impact on offense through 3 weeks with only a single reception for 3 yards.
