Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Possible Value Additions That Won’t Require Using a Claim

NFL: New York Jets at Buffalo Bills Timothy T. Ludwig-USA TODAY Sports

If you are in a fantasy bind, here are some potential options to pick up on your roster after waiver claims are done.

Quarterback: Alex Smith

Smith had an incredible Week 1 showing against the Patriots, but people don’t seem to be high on him. He is owned in just 51.6% of ESPN fantasy leagues. He is a solid addition if you are in a bind at quarterback.

Running Back: Chris Thompson

Thompson’s receiving out of the backfield was one of the few things that went right for Washington. It is slim pickings at the running back position at this point, but Thompson could be a depth piece in a PPR league. He is a free agent in almost 40% of ESPN leagues.

Wide Receiver: Jermaine Kearse

Look, somebody has to get the targets in this Jets passing game, and there will be occasional receptions. Kearse seems like he might be the beneficiary of some of the volume. He is owned in less than 3% of leagues.

Tight End: Coby Fleener

Investing in Saints tight ends tends to pay dividends. Fleener had a solid Week 1 and is available in over two-thirds of ESPN leagues.
