Jets vs. Eagles Winners and Losers: Five Winners for the Jets

The preseason is now a memory, but let’s look back to see some players who might have raised their stock with the Jets in the fourth and final game against the Eagles.

Kony Ealy: It wouldn’t surprise me if the Jets front office and coaching staff had Ealy locked into a roster spot no matter what happened last night. It wouldn’t surprise me if they had no intention of keeping him no matter what happened last night. If they were up in the air, however, a strip sack certainly helps his cause.

Elijah McGuire: You do have to factor the level of competition, but he looked very elusive. For the first time, part of me is wondering whether part of the motivation behind the Matt Forte trade rumors is opening up some playing time for McGuire.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins: ASJ will now have to sit and wait for his suspension to end, but his preseason ended on a high note. I think he is a guy who has not shown an ability to use his size to his advantage consistently. That touchdown catch was about him doing just that.

Derrick Jones: Jones might have been one of the biggest winners in last weekend’s Dexter McDougle trade from the roster spot it opened up. He made an excellent break on a pass for an interception.

Ross Martin: He hit a couple of chip shots and an extra point, but with an apparent lead in the kicking competition I think his main objective was to avoid catastrophe. Mission accomplished.
