Bowles: Depth Chart Means Nothing

New, comments

Todd Bowles: Don’t read anything into the depth chart.

NFL: New York Jets-Training Camp Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

We’re over analysing everything at the moment, that’s what happens when you have a QB competition that shows no signs of sorting itself out anytime soon. The Jets had to release their first unofficial depth chart yesterday, but don’t get caught up reading too much into it. Todd Bowles confirmed in his press-conference that it was something the Jets had to do and it really means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things.

On if the unofficial depth chart means anything…

No.

On how much time he spent on the depth chart…

None.

On if (Senior Director, Media Relations) Bruce Speight put the depth chart together…

Yes (laughter).

On if (Director, Public Relations) Jared Winley also helped…

Yes, they get their time this year to put that stuff out there so I’m happy for them.

We need to remember that the team have only been in for one week of practice so far and we haven’t seen anyone take a snap in anger yet. The first chance to impress will come this weekend as the Jets take on the Titans. So if you want to believe that Hackenberg is the #3 quarterback on the roster, then you can... but I wouldn’t be that quick to jump to conclusions.

For anyone interested, here is the depth chart:
