Jets Waive WR Ellington, Sign FB Brown

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Jets have waived wide receiver Bruce Ellington a day after picking him up on waivers. Ellington reportedly failed his physical with the Jets, a bit surprising considering he had been practicing with the San Francisco 49ers before they cut him. In any event Ellington becomes one of the shorter tenured Jets in team history.

Replacing Ellington on the roster will be undrafted free agent fullback Algernon Brown. Who, you ask? Brown is a 6'0", 255 pound bruiser of a back out of BYU. He went undrafted in the 2017 NFL draft and was signed by the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks recently cut Brown, and now he is, at least for the moment, a Jet.

Here is a scouting report on Brown Gang Green Nation published last March. Check out the highlight video; Brown is fun to watch.
