The Jets closed their preseason with a 16-10 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. New York finishes the 2017 preseason with a 2-2 record if you are at all interested in preseason records.

Josh McCown started the game and actually played two series, an exorbitant amount for a starting quarterback in the preseason finale. He led the Jets to a field goal drive and also provided a bit of a scare, leaving the game briefly after taking a big hit. He returned, however.

Christian Hackenberg took over for McCown and played the rest of the way. He got off to a hot start, throwing a beautiful touchdown pass to Austin Seferian-Jenkins and leading a field goal drive. Hackenberg cooled off considerably in the second half, however, finishing only 10 of 22 for 105 yards.

The Jets defense had a strong night, really only suffering one major breakdown on a 41 yard fourth quarter touchdown. The defense made a stand near the goal line on the last series to preserve the win after a botched exchange between Hackenberg and Marcus Murphy led to a fumble Philly recovered and a short field late in the fourth quarter.

Next up are roster cuts.

We will have more tonight and tomorrow.
