I know you will be sentimental to hear this is the conclusion of our 2017 Jets roster countdown. Here is Ross Martin to send us off.

Name: Ross Martin

Number: 1

Year with Jets: 2nd

Projected Role: Likely Kicker

His 2016: The Jets signed Martin as an undrafted free agent out of Duke to compete with Nick Folk for the kicking job. After staying neck and neck with Folk in the early part of training camp, things unraveled once the preseason started. Martin missed a pair of field goals in the preseason opener and an extra point the next week. He was cut at the end of the preseason but brought back for another shot this year.

2017 will be a success if: Martin wins the job and turns into a reliable and clutch kicker. It wouldn’t be a major shock. He was a 90% kicker in college.

Odds of making the roster: More Likely Than Not (50-75%)
