In a kicking competition that has fallen a bit under the radar for the Jets, indications are Ross Martin had a better Thursday than Chandler Catanzaro.
Catanzaro missed 3 of 6 kicks. Ross Martin perfect on same attempts with a long of 55 #jets

This is only one day of action. You might remember that Martin was neck and neck with Nick Folk early in training camp a year ago. The wheels then fell off for him after the preseason started.
Outside of special teams, the Jets had one of those classic good news/bad news situations. The defense turned up the heat on the pass rush, but that means the offense had a rough day protecting its quarterbacks.
Lorenzo Mauldin was a standout.
Lorenzo Mauldin just abused Brandon Shell in a one-on-one blocking drill with strong bull rush. Kevin Greene was very happy #Jets

The Jets offensive line didn't feel like blocking Lorenzo Mauldin, so he came in for a sack. #jets

Overall it was just an ugly day for the protection.
Practice ends. As many as 12 sacks today. #jets
