Jets Name McCown Starter; Trade for Long Snapper

NFL: Tennessee Titans at New York Jets Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Monday was a fairly busy news day for the Jets.

The team made a trade, and it was for a long snapper. I never expected to write that, but the team did a acquire Thomas Hennessy from the Colts for safety Ronald Martin. The amazing thing is it wasn’t the only trade in the NFL involving a long snapper on Monday.

The bigger news is the Jets named Josh McCown their Week 1 starter against the Buffalo Bills. This should come to the surprise of nobody. McCown has always seemed like the favorite, and Christian Hackenberg played his way out of the starting discussion in preseason. On today’s podcast we will discuss why the Jets made this move and what it means going forward into the regular season.
