Jets Claim Kony Ealy Off Waivers, Waive Injured Anthony Johnson

NFL: Arizona Cardinals at Carolina Panthers Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Jets have claimed defensive lineman Kony Ealy off waivers after he was cut by the New England Patriots.

Kony Ealy is a 25 year old, 6’ 4”, 275 pound defensive end. He was originally drafted with the 60th overall pick in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft by the Carolina Panthers. In 47 career games, 15 of which have been starts, Ealy has amassed 80 tackles, 19 sacks, 6 forced fumbles, 5 passes defended, 2 fumble recoveries, 1 interception and a partridge in a pear tree. Ealy becomes another shot at developing an edge defender who can rush the passer effectively for the Jets.

To make room on the roster the Jets waived/injured defensive end Anthony Johnson.
