Jets quarterback Bryce Petty suffered a knee injury in last night’s preseason loss to the Giants. It was a shame as Petty was playing brilliantly. There is some good news, however. Adam Schefter reports the injury is not serious.
Sigh of relief: Jets QB Bryce Petty suffered a Grade 1 MCL sprain and hopes to play Thursday night, per source. Ready for regular season.

Petty’s performance last night was superb. There is a danger in going overboard over one preseason game where a quarterback lights up a backup defense. Petty had a big game in the preseason a year ago against Washington but proved to be in over his head once the regular season started.
With that said, I think Petty cemented a spot on this team with the job he did against the Giants and clearly showed he is ahead of Christian Hackenberg at this point. Schefter says Petty will be ready for Week 1, and if merit has anything to do with it, Hackenberg should be the third quarterback with Petty and Josh McCown ahead of him.
