New York QB Josh McCown did not play tonight vs. the Detroit Lions, and Christian Hackenberg got the start for Gang Green. If he showed some promise last week, he broke that promise today. It looks as though he went 2/6 for 14 yards in two quarters of play. The offensive line gave up a couple of sacks, and there was not a lot of chemistry with the pass catchers. Overall, the Jets offense can be described as a work in progress.
Bryce Petty came in and moved the ball against the Lions backups, but the Jets failed to get into the end zone, settling for 2 field goals. He did have some good looking throws to different receivers and spread the ball around. He went 15/24 with 160 yards and an interception in the end zone at the end of the game.
On defense, Demario Davis got a sack of Matthew Stafford early. CB Morris Claiborne had some trouble with Lions WR Marvin Jones, giving up a touchdown in the 2nd quarter during a 78 yard drive for Detroit. Corey Lemonier had an interception in the 3rd quarter and a sack in the 4th.
Sorry if I got any details wrong. Somebody braver than me will probably review this game and give a full analysis. Meanwhile, chat below and share your thoughts on the second preseason game and the state of the team.
