Jets head coach Todd Bowles announced running back Matt Forte and outside linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin will probably miss Saturday night’s preseason game against the Lions.
OLB Maudlin (back), RB Forte (hamstring) and WRs Wilson (hip) and Williams (concussion) aren't expected to play SAT.

I stand by my general preseason rule. For a guy like Forte, this probably isn’t a major deal. He is what he is at this point. If anything, the Jets should be looking to minimize his preseason snaps. He already has a lot of miles on his odometer. There is no need to add to that in games that do not matter.
This is a different story as far as Mauldin is concerned. Coming off a disappointing second season, he is looking to develop into a player. These game reps could matter for him. Obviously the team does not want to put an injured player on the field and risk getting him hurt worse. Still, it would be nice to have him on the field Saturday to work on his game.
