Jets vs. Titans Winners and Losers: Five Winners for the Jets in the Preseason Opener

NFL: Tennessee Titans at New York Jets Dennis Schneidler-USA TODAY Sports

Here are five Jets who helped themselves in last night’s preseason win against the Titans.

Josh Martin: The special teamer made his mark on defense, recording a sack and another pressure to go with a couple of stops in the run game. It felt like he was strong holding the point of attack.

Julian Stanford: Stanford delivered the big hit of the night. He finished with a sack and also was solid when he dropped into coverage.

Robby Anderson: Anderson picked up right where he left off last preseason leading the Jets with 3 catches for 71 yards. His 53 yard grab set up the only touchdown of the game. Anderson probably has a half step lead in the starting wide receiver competition, and more performances like that will ensure he will keep it.

Charone Peake: He only had one catch, but it was for a touchdown. Importantly, he also had a really nice tackle in punt coverage. The Jets could use some gunner help.

Frankie Hammond: His 38 yard kickoff return was the biggest splash in the returner competition.

I’ll put Dexter McDougle as honorable mention. He was generally solid in coverage when tested. The only reason I leave him out is he appeared to be responsible for a bust in coverage on Ronald Martin’s interception. If the throw wasn’t late, it could have easily been a touchdown.
