Jets 2017 Roster Breakdown: Patrick Gamble Is a Developmental Defender

We move right along in our Jets roster breakdown to Patrick Gamble.

Name: Patrick Gamble

Number: 61

Year with Jets: 1st

Projected Role: Competing for one of the last roster spots or a practice squad slot as a defensive lineman

His 2016: Gamble made the Honorable Mention All ACC team with 7.5 sacks as a defensive tackle at Georgia Tech. Although he received a bit of late round buzz, he went undrafted and was signed as a free agent by the Jets.

2017 will be a success if: Gamble makes the practice squad and sticks for a year of development. He is very much a developmental prospect. He is a former basketball player who converted from defensive end to defensive tackle. In the NFL his best role might be as a five technique. He is a bit undersized for that spot at the moment, but he has the frame to put on the necessary bulk. Like any prospect in his situation, you hope for the best as he learns the game but expect nothing in the immediate future.

Odds of making the roster: Longshot (less than 25%)
