Our Jets roster countdown now turns to Jeff Adams.
Name: Jeff Adams
Number: 63
Year with Jets: 1st
Projected Role: Competing for backup offensive tackle roster spot
His 2016: Adams spent 2016 bouncing between the Texans active roster and their practice squad without playing in a game. That has been par for the course. He first tried breaking in to the NFL in 2012, and he has 119 career snaps on offense. All but two of those came in 2015. When the Jets signed him in the winter, they became the sixth NFL organization to employ Adams.
2017 will be a success if: Adams can make the team and be a solid backup tackle. At 6’7” he probably is too tall to play on the interior so it will have to be at tackle. It is tough to see this working out, though. He will be 28 in September and has been trying to make the league since 2012. If it was going to happen for him, it probably would have happened already.
Odds of making the roster: Longshot (less than 25%)
