Jets 2017 Roster Breakdown: Can Claude Pelon Get a Roster Spot?

Our Jets roster breakdown continues as we turn our attention to Claude Pelon.

Name: Claude Pelon

Number: 66

Year with Jets: 2nd

Projected Role: Competing for backup defensive lineman roster spot/practice squad spot.

His 2016: Pelon was signed as an undrafted free agent. He missed the roster on the final round of cuts and then was signed to the practice squad. He only lasted there for a few weeks as he was cut from the practice squad in September. He didn’t catch on with anybody else and returned to the practice squad in December. The Jets signed him to a reserve/future contract after the season ended.

2017 will be a success if: Pelon can show enough promise to stick with the organization through the year, either on the roster or the practice squad. The defensive line is one of the few areas with a shortage of spots up for grabs, but Pelon retains practice squad eligibility.

Odds of making the roster: Longshot (less than 25%)
