Jets 2017 Roster Breakdown: Can Brian Winters Build Off a Good Year?

New, comments
NFL: New York Jets at Arizona Cardinals Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Our Jets roster countdown moves along to Brian Winters.

Name: Brian Winters

Number: 67

Year with Jets: 5th

Projected Role: Starting right guard

His 2016: Winters was able to earn the starting right guard job and put together the strongest season of his career. After struggling for much of the early part of his career, Winters showed signs of developing into a quality player. He is never going to be a dominant run blocker, but he showed enough. He had a pretty strong year as a pass protector. Winters ended the season on injured reserve with a torn rotator cuff. In spite of this and his uneven track record in the pros, the Jets decided to make him one of the highest paid right guards in the league with a new contract.

2017 will be a success if: Winters remains on a clear upward trajectory and continues to show improvement. It has taken a while, but he might have finally developed into a quality player.

Odds of making the roster: Lock (>99%)
