Our Jets roster countdown continues with a look at Kelvin Beachum.
Name: Kelvin Beachum
Number: 68
Year with Jets: 1st
Projected Role: Starting left tackle
His 2016: The Jets showed interest in Beachum as he hit free agency, but the left tackle signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars. It was a bit of a risky signing for Jacksonville as Beachum was coming off a serious knee injury, and it didn’t pan out. PFF had Beachum surrendering 49 pressures, and he didn’t move with the type of fluidity he had shown pre-injury with the Steelers. The Jaguars decided to decline an option in Beachum’s contract, and the Jets signed him.
2017 will be a success if: Beachum looks recovered from his injury with an extra year of distance from it. He was a quality left tackle before he got hurt. The Jets need him to do so. He plays a very important position, and the Jets structured his contract in a way that virtually guarantees he will be the starting left tackle for the next two seasons.
Odds of making the roster: Lock (>99%)
