Jets 2017 Roster Countdown: Can Jordan Todman Help the Jets Solve Their Return Woes?

New, comment
NFL: Indianapolis Colts at Denver Broncos Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

Our Jets roster countdown now takes a look at Jordan Todman.

Name: Jordan Todman

Number: 31

Year with Jets: 1st

Projected Role: Competing for depth running back and return man spot

His 2016: Todman spent the season with the Colts. He wasn’t much of a factor from scrimmage, only touching the ball 9 times. He did post a 29.9 yard average on 16 kickoff returns, though. Those 16 returns were not enough to qualify for the league leader list, but the average would have him second in the NFL if he had.

2017 will be a success if: Todman can provide the Jets with a quality kickoff returner. This is a guy on his seventh different team in the NFL. He probably is not a big time impact player, but his 26.6 yard average on returns isn’t awful. He also might be useful on offense. He has a solid 4.3 yard per rush average in the league, albeit in a small 126 carry sample size. This is still a journeyman, though.

Odds of making the roster: Unlikely (25-50%)
