The Jets invested a pair of picks around the middle of this year’s NFL Draft in rookie wide receivers. Through two days of training camp practices, however, neither ArDarius Stewart nor Chad Hansen has participated in team drills. Stewart is dealing with groin and thumb ailments, while Hansen has a knee issue.
Head coach Todd Bowles addressed the status of the two receivers speaking to the press today.
We’re still bringing Stewart along slowly. He did a lot of individual (drills) today. Hansen is the same way. We just want to make sure they clear (the medical staff’s approval) and everything is healthy before we work them into team (drills) and everything.
That certainly didn’t clear much up.
It is the classic dilemma. You don’t want to rush guys back too quickly and have them miss time because they make injuries worse. At the same time, these rookies need to work on their game and get reps in the new offense.
