Whitehead Ready To Help Jets, Shocked By Cowboys Release

Lets hope he brings a little bit of Luck to the Jets.

Lucky Whitehead is happy to be with the Jets following his release from the Cowboys, a move which he called “shocking”.

“I came off the field and found out that I had an arrest warrant that I didn’t know about. And, it was kind of shocking with the whole release thing. That whole situation, I was kind of just, (let’s) figure out what was going on and clear my name. It was just kind of a twist.”

I’m sure everyone knows by now that Whitehead was released by the Cowboys after being wrongly identified in a shoplifting charge from Virginia. It was a strange move by the Cowboys who elected to just cut ties with a talented kick and punt returner.

“The explanation? I don’t think I really got an explanation,” he said. “It’s an unfortunate situation and things happen. I’m excited to be here and I’m glad they gave me a chance to start over.”

Saying that, Whitehead’s time with the Cowboys is in the past and he’s ready to help the Jets who could do with a little explosion at both kick and punt returner. I can’t see him making much of a dent at the receiver position, considering the investment we’ve made in the position with recent draft selections, but he’ll certainly get the opportunity to make a difference as a returner.

“I’ll move on, try to build a chemistry with these guys here,” Whitehead said. “I’m building, I’m learning. ... I can help them in any way I can. I’m going to try to make this roster and be a playmaker.”
