Murphy only had one carry in two years with the Saints and zero receptions. He mainly was used as a returner. His 21.3 average per kickoff return is poor, but his 9.4 average per punt return is quite good.
Jets special teams have struggled for years. The days of Mike Westhoff where the team just kept plugging in a new top return guy each season are a distant memory.
Murphy's sample size is small. He only has 34 punt returns in his career, but he should be in the mix to claim a roster spot
