Our Jets roster countdown moves on to take a look at Juston Burris.

Name: Juston Burris

Number: 32

Year with Jets: 2nd

Projected Role: Competing for third starting cornerback spot

His 2016: Burris was something of a surprising selection in the fourth round of the 2016 Draft for the Jets. His early season work was mainly limited to special teams with a couple of games where he was pressed into defensive service early. After the Jets fell out of the Playoff race, his snap totals increased. He had ups and downs, looking pretty good for stretches against the 49ers and Patriots and having some struggles against the Dolphins. In my book, any third day pick who doesn’t seem totally in over his head as a rookie is beating expectations so there were things to like.

2017 will be a success if: Burris can claim the third starting cornerback slot and play effectively. The idea of building through the Draft only works if you hit on some midround picks and get starters on cheap rookie deals. Burris is one of the Jets’ most realistic chances to do so.

Odds of making the roster: Lock (>99%)
