Our Jets roster countdown now takes a look at rookie Jamal Adams.
Name: Jamal Adams
Number: 33
Year with Jets: 1st
Projected Role: Starting safety
His 2016: Adams was a leader on LSU’s defense. His 42 tackles, 7.5 of which went for a loss, were enough to earn him First Team All SEC and Second Team All American honors. One of the consensus best players in the 2017 Draft class, Adams surprisingly fell to the sixth pick where the Jets were happy to scoop him up.
2017 will be a success if: Adams is one of the best rookies on either side of the ball. Those expectations are not too high. With a top ten pick, much is expected. Adams should be an impact player from day one. It isn’t just about the tangibles. His job will also involve making sure everybody gets lined up correctly and making good presnap reads to be in position to make plays.
Odds of making the roster: Lock (>99%)
