Our Jets roster countdown now takes a look at Jeremy Clark.
Name: Jeremy Clark
Year with Jets: 1st
Projected Role: Battling for one of the last cornerback roster spots
His 2016: Clark only played four game for Michigan before suffering a torn ACL. He petitioned the NCAA for an additional year of eligibility but was turned down, forcing him to go into the Draft. The Jets surprisingly picked him in the sixth round. I say surprisingly because apparently even Clark was surprised he was drafted due to his injury.
2017 will be a success if: Clark recovers from his injury. The Jets did not make this selection for 2017. They are hoping to develop Clark into a player for the future. They even double issued the number 34 to Clark and Brandon Wilds. It would not be a surprise to see him start the year on the physically unable to perform list as he continues to recover from his injury. After that, the practice squad might be his destination. His game likely needs some refinement as he is still relatively new to the cornerback position after converting from safety during college. The Jets seemed to display their template for developmental corners taking big projects like Clark and Derrick Jones in the sixth round.
