Jets 2017 Roster Breakdown: What Are Brandon Wilds’ Chances of Gaining a Spot?

Our Jets roster countdown now moves on to Brandon Wilds.

Name: Brandon Wilds

Number: 34

Year with Jets: 2nd

Projected Role: Trying to earn depth running back roster spot

His 2016: Wilds was undrafted out of South Carolina. He signed with the Falcons and spent the preseason with the eventual NFC Champions. He failed to make the roster, however, and was signed to the Jets’ practice squad. He earned a promotion to the roster in December and dressed in four games. He didn’t produce much in limited action, gaining only 27 yards on 10 rushes and 20 yards on two receptions. He is back in camp for another year.

2017 will be a success if: Wilds beats out Elijah McGuire for the third running back job in training camp and earns playing time as the year progresses. McGuire presumably starts out with an edge since the Jets drafted him, but a big camp out of Wilds could help him grab that number three job. Some good special teams work wouldn’t hurt either.

Odds of making the roster: Longshot (less than 25%)
