Our Jets roster breakdown now takes a look at Elijah McGuire.

Name: Elijah McGuire

Number: 35

Year with Jets: 1st

Projected Role: Third running back and possible return man

His 2016: McGuire ran for 1,129 yards and 7 touchdowns and added 29 receptions at Louisiana-Lafayette. He ended up Second Team All Sun Belt Conference. The Jets picked him with one of their three sixth round picks in the NFL Draft.

2017 will be a success if: McGuire starts to carve out a role by the end of the season. It sounds like he is going to get a look as a potential returner on special teams. A lot of people seem to feel he has a chance to develop into a quality receiving back. How many opportunities he will get may come down to the same question most young running backs have to answer. How quickly can he grow into a decent pass protector?

Odds of making the roster: More Likely Than Not (50-75%)
