Our Jets roster countdown turns its attention now to Ben Braden.
Name: Ben Braden
Number: 69
Year with Jets: 1st
Projected Role: Competing for backup offensive line roster spot/practice squad spot
His 2016: Braden started games at both tackle and guard for the University of Michigan and made the All-Big Ten Second Team. Despite some pundits projecting him as a third day pick, Braden went undrafted. The Jets signed him.
2017 will be a success if: Braden shows enough to earn a spot on the practice squad and keeps it for the season. That is standard for undrafted rookies. You can’t really expect much from his as a rookie. His career goal will likely be to develop into a starting guard down the line. It is not clear how much upside Braden has, but the Jets felt he has enough to at least justify a look in training camp.
Odds of making the roster: Longshot (less than 25%)
