Jets 2017 Roster Breakdown: Can Freddie Bishop Make an Impact?

New, comments

Our Jets roster countdown now takes a look at Freddie Bishop

Name: Freddie Bishop

Year with Jets: 2nd

Projected Role: Competing for an edge rusher spot

His 2016: Bishop signed with the Jets as a CFL import in the offseason. After failing to make the team out of training camp, Bishop caught on with the practice squad. Late in the year he got signed to the active roster and got substantial playing time. Bishop played at least 30 defensive snaps in the final four games. He recorded 9 tackles. I personally wasn’t blown away by what he did, but some reports indicate the Jets liked what they saw.

2017 will be a success if: Bishop carves out a niche on defense, whether as a starter or a situational player. This isn’t your typical second year player. Bishop is already 27 and has been in professional football since 2013. He had a year to adjust to the NFL. Now it is time to make an impact.

Odds of making the roster: 50/50
