Our Jets roster countdown now takes a look at Jordan Jenkins.

Name: Jordan Jenkins

Number: 48

Year with Jets: 2nd

Projected Role: Starting outside linebacker

His 2016: The Jets drafted Jenkins in the third round of the 2016 Draft out of Georgia. He fought off the injury bug early in the year and saw his role grow as the season progressed. By the end of the year, he was seldom coming off the field and was playing effectively. He was solid against the run and had 2.5 sacks over the final four games of 2016.

2017 will be a success if: Jenkins gives the Jets a stable quality starter. Drafting is always a mix of finding players with the highest upside and the lowest risk of busting. I am not sure Jenkins has the ceiling of an impact player, but I think his skillset leaves him with good odds of being a quality player. That is no knock on Jenkins. You need to be able to find and develop role players who can do some of the dirty work. This team hasn’t drafted enough guys like that in recent times.

Odds of making the roster: Lock (>99%)
