Our Jets roster countdown now takes a look at Jordan Leggett.
Name: Jordan Leggett
Number: 49
Year with Jets: 1st
Projected Role: Competing for playing time at tight end
His 2016: Leggett caught 46 passes for 736 yards and 7 touchdowns as Deshaun Watson’s second option on Clemson’s National Champion team. He saved some of his best work for the biggest stage, registering a season high 7 receptions against Alabama in the National Championship Game for 95 yards. Leggett fell to the fifth round of the NFL Draft, where the Jets scooped him up.
2017 will be a success if: Leggett occasionally flashes some promise. Given the lack of proven talent at the tight end position, it might be tempting to pencil him in for a bigger role, but this is one of the most difficult positions to transition from college to the pros. Almost no tight end is an impact player as a rookie. Some moments where he looks the part as a rookie would suffice.
Odds of making the roster: Probable (75-99%)
